Why Adult Faith Formation?

Every one of us, by virtue of our Baptism, is on a life-long journey of faith. Consequently, Adult Faith Formation has as its purpose to support, nourish, and challenge adults as they explore their faith, experience its power, grow in relationship with God. Religious education is not just for children anymore. Adult faith formation is vital.

  “Catholic Social Ethics:  An Anecdote to Ideology” with Deacon Mike!

In this course, Dr. Matthew Petrusek contrasts various ideologies with Catholic social ethics, demonstrating how only a Catholic worldview can shape our society into one where both the individual and the community flourish. 

This course will begin September 12, at 7pm in St. Mary’s Hall and will run for 7 weeks.  Please sign up at so that we can prepare materials.  There is no cost for this offering.  

Bible Study:   “Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible”

Join us for a bible study utilizing “Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible,” beginning Sunday, September 25 at Saint Vincent de Paul.  Sessions start at 8:30am and finish in time for participants to attend Mass.  This eight week study helps participants get the “big picture” of scripture by showing how fourteen narrative books of the Bible tell the complete story from Adam and Eve to Christ and the Church.  Cost per participant is $25 and includes study workbook, Bible Timeline chart and bookmark, and online access to course videos for a year.  Please sign up to participate  

Psalms:  The School of Prayer

The Holy Spirit inspired them. Israel sang them. Christ himself prayed them, as did our Blessed Mother. At the heart of the Bible are the Psalms, prayers from God that help us to pray. In the Psalms: The School of Prayer, discover how these sacred hymns become our heartfelt response to God’s loving and wondrous deeds for us.In this 11-session Bible study, learn how to meditate fruitfully on the captivating words of the Psalms using 

lectio divina and study the many ways the Psalms foretell the life and mission of Jesus.  This study will be held on Thursday evenings at 7pm in the Little White House at Saint Joseph, starting on September 29.  Cost per participant is $29.95 and includes all printed course materials and online access to videos for a year.  Please register online for this offering.

We Gather Wednesdays

Theology Tuesdays–reinvented to a new night of the week!  Join various speakers and your fellow parishioners each Wednesday night for a different topic being taught and discuss.  Topics this year will begin at the very beginning of the Creed and will gradually move throughout the various elements of our faith.  Come as you are, when you can–7pm on Wednesdays in Cordier Hall at St. Joseph.  No registration required.
